Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA) won 6-1 over Cameron Bryce (Border, SCO) in the Final of the Baden Masters, held August 18 - 20, 2023 at the Curling Center Baden Regio in Baden-Daettwil, Switzerland. To advance to the championship game, Retornaz won 8-0 over James Craik (Forfar, SCO) in the semifinals of the 2023 Baden Masters in Baden-Daettwil, Switzerland; and won 6-2 over Kyle Waddell (Hamilton, SCO) in the quarterfinals. of the 2023 Baden Masters in Baden-Daettwil, Switzerland;
Retornaz finished 4-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Retornaz defeated Waddell 10-1, then won 9-0 against Lars Brauchli (Wildhaus, SUI) and 9-2 against Lukas Hostmaelingen (Oslo, NOR). Retornaz won 6-5 against Marco Hoesli (Glarus, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Baden Masters Championship title, Retornaz earned 45.000 world rankings points along with the $18,465CDN first prize cheque, moving up 3 spots the World Ranking Standings into 2nd place overall with 396.750 total points. Retornaz ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 45.000 points earned so far this season.
