Ross Whyte (Stirling, SCO) won 7-6 over Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in the Final of the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic, held September 20 - 24, 2023 at the Cornwall Curling Club in Cornwall, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Whyte won 8-2 over Felix Asselin (Montreal, QC) in the semifinals of the 2023 AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada; and won 9-7 over Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) in the quarterfinals. of the 2023 AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada;
Whyte finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Whyte lost 5-3 to Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA), then responded with a 8-3 win over Steve Allen (Ottawa, ON). Whyte won 7-2 against Sam Mooibroek (Whitby, ON), then won 6-1 against Stuart Thompson (Halifax, NS) and 7-1 against Tanner Horgan (Sudbury, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic Championship title, Whyte earned 48.750 world rankings points along with the $15,400CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 9th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 18.5 after improving upon their best so far this season. Whyte ranks 2nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 81.750 points earned so far this season.
