James Craik (Stirling, SCO) qualified for the 2023 Sun City Cup playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 9-4 against Magnus Ramsfjell (Lillehammer, NOR). of the 2023 Sun City Cup in Karlstad, Sweden;

Craik finished 3-2 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Craik defeated Ugurcan Karagoz (Erzurum, TUR) 9-3, then won 9-3 against Sweden's Patric Klaremo and 7-2 against Mats Wrana (Sundbyberg, SWE). Craik went on to lose 6-4 against Jonathan Vilandt (Hvidovre, DEN). Craik lost 7-1 to Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.

Craik earned 12.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Sun City Cup. For week 30 of the event schedule, Craik did not improve upon their best events, remaining at 21st place on the World Ranking Standings with 144.006 total points. Craik ranks 20th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 136.500 points earned so far this season.
