Whyte finished 5-2 in the 28-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Whyte defeated Paul Cseke (Victoria, BC) 9-2, then won 4-3 against Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB). Whyte went on to lose 5-3 against Brendan Bottcher (Calgary, AB). Whyte lost 7-4 to Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) where Whyte responded with a 8-3 win over Reid Carruthers (Morris, MB). Whyte won 5-4 against Sebastien Robillard (Port Coquitlam, BC) to advance to the C-Qualifier where they 6-5 against Jacques Gauthier (Victoria, BC) to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.
 
Whyte earned 21.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Prism Flow Red Deer Curling Classic, remaining in 9th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 4.5 after improving upon their best so far this season. Whyte ranks 11th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 117.000 points earned so far this season.
