Japan's Kohsuke Hirata lost 6-3 to Go Aoki (Sapporo, JPN) in the Final of the Hokkaido Curling Championships, held January 12 - 17, 2022 in Hokkaido, Japan.

Japan's Kohsuke Hirata finished 5-2 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Japan's Kohsuke Hirata defeated Japan's Ryouichi Saitou 11-1, then won 8-3 against Japan's Yuya Takigahira. Japan's Kohsuke Hirata went on to lose 5-4 against Japan's Naoki Kanazawa. Japan's Kohsuke Hirata responded with a 7-1 win over Japan's Toa Nakahara. Japan's Kohsuke Hirata went on to lose 4-3 against Japan's Masaki Ishikawa. Japan's Kohsuke Hirata responded with a 8-2 win over Japan's Harunobu Kawahira. Japan's Kohsuke Hirata won 7-1 against Aoki in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Hokkaido Curling Championships, Japan's Kohsuke Hirata take home 3.300 world rankings points, moving up 38 spots the World Ranking Standings into 206th place overall with 8.574 total points.
