To advance to the championship game, Matsumura won 7-4 over Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC) in the semifinals
Matsumura finished 4-0 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Matsumura defeated Jason Montgomery (Victoria, BC) 6-3, then won 8-2 against Paul Cseke (Victoria, BC) and 7-3 against Neil Dangerfield (Victoria, BC). Matsumura won 5-0 against Mitchell Kopytko (Kamloops, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Raymond James Kelowna Double Cash Championship title, Matsumura earned 19.205 world rankings points along with the $3,000CDN first prize cheque. Matsumura move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 9.941 points improving upon their best 3 results so far this season, ranking 17th overall with 169.504 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Matsumura ranks 18th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 68.024 points earned so far this season.
