Birnie went on to lose 10-2 against Sarah Wark (Abbotsford, BC). Birnie responded with a 6-3 win over Shiella Cowan (Vancouver, BC) in their final qualifying round match.

Birnie earned 1.696 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 8 spots the World Ranking Standings into 166th place overall with 5.233 total points. Birnie ranks 139th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 1.696 points earned so far this season.
