Mansell finished 9-0 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mansell defeated Mark Willmert (St. Paul, MN) 8-7, then won 9-2 against Shoesmith and 7-3 against Ty Schommer (Anchorage, AK). Mansell won 7-4 against Scott Strouse (Midland, MI), then won 13-1 against Ivaylo Petrov (Plainfield, NJ) and 7-3 against David Pengilly (Bismarck, ND). Mansell won 6-1 against Willie Wilberg (Poynette, WI), then won 10-3 against Leclair and 6-5 against Jeff Wright (Exmoor, IL) in their final qualifying round match.
