In their opening game, Murphy defeated Alan O'Leary (Halifax, NS) 9-4, then won 7-3 against Matthew Manuel (Halifax, NS) and 9-1 against Nova Scotia's Andrew Gibson. Murphy won 8-4 against Chad Stevens (Truro, NS), then won 9-7 against Brent MacDougall (Halifax, NS). Murphy went on to lose 6-5 against Thompson. Murphy responded with a 11-4 win over Stuart Thompson (Dartmouth, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Deloitte Nova Scotia Tankard Championship title, Murphy earned 11.813 world rankings points.
