Brown finished 5-2 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Brown defeated EunJung Kim (Uiseong, KOR) 7-5, then went on to lose 5-2 against Schori. Brown responded with a 10-3 win over Madison Bear (St.Paul, MN). Brown won 8-6 against Asuka Kanai (Nagano, JPN). Brown went on to lose 6-1 against Kovaleva. Brown responded with a 8-7 win over Daniela Jentsch (Fuessen, GER). Brown won 6-2 against Yu Han (Beijing, CHN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the China Open, Brown take home 25.833 world rankings points along with the $5,194CDN prize.
