Dropkin won 9-4 against Sergei Glukhov (Sochi, RUS), then won 8-6 against Andrin Schnider (St. Gallen, SUI) and 7-3 against Calvert. Dropkin went on to lose 7-6 against Kim. Dropkin responded with a 7-2 win over Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the China Open, Dropkin take home 25.523 world rankings points along with the $5,194CDN prize.
