In their opening game, van Dorp defeated Andrin Schnider (St. Gallen, SUI) 2-0, then went on to lose 7-5 against Kim. van Dorp lost 5-3 to Fredrik Nyman (Stockholm, SWE). van Dorp lost 10-4 to Ruohonen where van Dorp responded with a 6-3 win over Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN). van Dorp won 7-5 against Tanner Horgan (Winnipeg Beach, MB), then won 8-2 against Sergei Glukhov (Sochi, RUS) in their final qualifying round match.
