Rich Ruohonen (Minneapolis, USA) lost 8-6 to John Shuster (Duluth, USA) in the Final of the USA Curling National Championship, held February 8 - 15, 2020 in Spokane, Washington. To advance to the championship game, Ruohonen won 9-5 over Chase Sinnett (Medfield, MA) in the semifinals   of the 2020 USA Curling National Championship in Spokane, Washington; 
 
Ruohonen finished 7-2 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ruohonen defeated Jed Brundidge (West St. Paul, MN) 12-1, then won 9-5 against Kyle Kakela (Rolla, ND). Ruohonen went on to lose 7-4 against Shuster. Ruohonen responded with a 7-1 win over Dominik Maerki (Chaska, MN). Ruohonen won 7-1 against Sinnett. Ruohonen went on to lose 5-4 against Scott Dunnam (Philadelphia, PA). Ruohonen responded with a 7-4 win over Korey Dropkin (Chaska, USA). Ruohonen won 8-4 against Todd Birr (Ham Lake, MN), then won 11-10 against Steven Birklid (Mountlake Terrace, WA) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the USA Curling National Championship, Ruohonen take home 34.234 world rankings points. Ruohonen move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 15.713 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 15th overall with 207.626 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
