Darryl Sobering (Denver, CO) qualified for the 2019 Goldline US Open of Curling - Contender Round playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-6 against Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi (Nagano, JPN). of the 2019 Goldline US Open of Curling - Contender Round in Blaine, Minnesota, United States;

Sobering are currently 4-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sobering defeated Dominik Maerki (Chaska, MN) 7-6, then won 9-3 against Jed Brundidge (St. Paul, MN). Sobering went on to lose 10-5 against Todd Birr (Ham Lake, MN). Sobering responded with a 10-0 win over Jason Smith (Blaine , MN). Sobering won 5-2 against Stephen Imes (Columbus, OH). In their next game, Sobering plays Yamaguchi on Sunday at 9am and Yamaguchi at 9am.

Sobering earned 7.383 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Goldline US Open of Curling - Contender Round, moving up 264 spots the World Ranking Standings into 239th place overall with 7.591 total points. Sobering ranks 56th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 7.383 points earned so far this season.
