Birr finished 4-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Birr defeated Stephen Imes (Columbus, OH) 4-3, then won 6-3 against Jason Smith (Blaine , MN) and 10-5 against Darryl Sobering (Denver, CO). Birr went on to lose 9-3 against Dominik Maerki (Chaska, MN). Birr responded with a 6-3 win over Jed Brundidge (St. Paul, MN) in their final qualifying round match.

Birr earned 10.460 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Goldline US Open of Curling - Contender Round, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 57th place overall with 74.039 total points. Birr ranks 39th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 15.148 points earned so far this season.
