Jan Hess (Zug, SUI) finished 5-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hess defeated Fabio Ribotta (Trentino, ITA) 5-4, then won 7-2 against Lukas Klima (Prague, CZE). Hess went on to lose 8-4 against Thomas Ulsrud (Oppdal, NOR). Hess responded with a 7-6 win over Switzerland's Jan Iseli. Hess won 8-0 against Andrin Schnider (St. Gallen, SUI) to advance to the B-Qualifier where they 8-2 against Ulsrud to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.

Hess earned 12.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Grand Prix Bern Inter Curling Challenge. Hess move up 4 spots after posting a net gain of 3.375 points improving upon their best 5 results so far this season, ranking 29th overall with 126.887 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
