Tardi finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Tardi lost 8-5 to Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB), then responded with a 7-4 win over Dean Joanisse (New Westminster, BC). Tardi won 6-1 against Kirk Muyres (Saskatoon, SK), then won 4-2 against Bruce Mouat (Edinburgh, SCO) and 9-4 against Jason Montgomery (Victoria, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
