Dropkin finished 3-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Dropkin defeated Ryan Wiebe (Winnipeg, MB) 10-2, then went on to lose 8-6 against Manitoba's Joshua Friesen. Dropkin responded with a 6-5 win over Steen Sigurdson (Gimli, MB). Dropkin won 5-1 against William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
