Selena Sturmay (Edmonton, CAN) lost 8-7 to Vlada Rumyanceva (Moscow, RUS) in the Final of the World Junior Curling Championships, held February 16 - 23, 2019 in Liverpool, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Sturmay won 8-2 over Raphaela Keiser (Flims, SUI) in the semifinals of the 2019 World Junior Curling Championships in Liverpool, Canada;
Sturmay finished 6-3 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sturmay lost 6-5 to Lisa Davie (Stirling, SCO), then responded with a 7-6 win over Cait Flannery (Chaska, USA). Sturmay won 9-6 against Ami Enami (Karuizawa, JPN). Sturmay went on to lose 9-3 against Tova Sundberg (Stockholm, SWE). Sturmay responded with a 8-3 win over Min Ji Kim (Chuncheon city, KOR). Sturmay won 6-4 against Keiser, then won 8-2 against Maia Ramsfjell (Jar, NOR). Sturmay went on to lose 8-7 against Yu Han (Beijing, CHN). Sturmay responded with a 8-3 win over Rumyanceva in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the World Junior Curling Championships, Sturmay take home 26.083 world rankings points. For week 28 of the event schedule, Sturmay did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Sturmay ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
