To advance to the championship game, Paterson won 9-6 over Jason Gunnlaugson (Morris, MB) in the semifinals of the 2018 Ashley HomeStore Curling Classic in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada; and won 7-5 over Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 Ashley HomeStore Curling Classic in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada;
Paterson finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Paterson defeated Brock Virtue (Kerrobert, SK) 8-2, then won 7-0 against Cody Tanaka (Richmond, BC) and 10-3 against Josh Barry (Vancouver, BC). Paterson won 4-3 against John Epping (Toronto, ON). Paterson went on to lose 8-1 against Charley Thomas (Toronto, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
