In their opening game, Jacobs defeated Sebastian Wunderer (Kitzbuehel, AUT) 5-1, then won 9-2 against Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN) and 8-4 against Charley Thomas (Toronto, ON). Jacobs won 8-4 against Martin Ferland (Trois-Rivieres, QC), then won 7-2 against John Shuster (Duluth, USA) in their final qualifying round match.
