Pete Fenson (Bemidji, MN) qualified for the 2017 ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-3 against Todd Birr (Blaine, MN). of the 2017 ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling in Blaine, Minnesota, United States;

Fenson finished 3-2 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Fenson defeated 's Scott Dunnam 6-2, then went on to lose 8-2 against Heath McCormick (Blaine, USA). Fenson lost 6-1 to Rich Ruohonen (Seattle, WA) where Fenson responded with a 5-4 win over South Dakota's Cameron Rittenour. Fenson won 5-1 against Kroy Nernberger (Blaine, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
