Eve Muirhead (Perth , SCO) won 7-5 over Sweden's Anna Hasselborg in the Final of the HDF Insurance Shoot-Out, held September 14 - 17, 2017 in Edmonton, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Muirhead won 5-3 over Darcy Robertson (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2017 HDF Insurance Shoot-Out in Edmonton, Alberta; and won 8-4 over Kelsey Rocque (Edmonton, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 HDF Insurance Shoot-Out in Edmonton, Alberta;
Muirhead finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Muirhead defeated Alberta's Holly Scott 6-3, then won 7-6 against Robertson and 7-1 against Shannon Kleibrink (Calgary, AB). Muirhead won 10-2 against Geri-Lynn Ramsay (Calgary, AB). Muirhead went on to lose 5-4 against Bingyu Wang (Harbin, CHN) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the HDF Insurance Shoot-Out Championship title, Muirhead earned 55.542 world rankings points along with the $8,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 6th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 405.235 total points. Muirhead ranks 2nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 101.984 points earned so far this season.
