Michelle Englot (Winnipeg, MB) lost 10-5 to Chelsea Carey (Calgary, AB) in the Final of the Meridian Canadian Open, held January 16 - 21, 2018 in Camrose, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Englot won 10-4 over Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2018 Meridian Canadian Open in Camrose, Alberta; and won 6-5 over Allison Flaxey (Caledon, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 Meridian Canadian Open in Camrose, Alberta;

Englot finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Englot defeated Val Sweeting (Edmonton, AB) 9-2, then won 7-3 against Laura Crocker (Edmonton, AB). Englot went on to lose 9-4 against Flaxey. Englot lost 8-1 to Carey where Englot responded with a 6-4 win over Nina Roth (Blaine, USA) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Meridian Canadian Open, Englot take home 65.567 world rankings points along with the $18,000CDN prize. Englot move up 6 spots after posting a net gain of 61.733 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 10th overall with 437.778 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Englot ranks 19th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 173.366 points earned so far this season.
