Tyler Tardi (Langley, BC) won 5-4 over Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) in the Final of the Prestige Hotels & Resorts Curling Classic, held September 30 - October 2, 2016 at the Vernon Curling Club in Vernon, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Tardi won 6-4 over Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC) in the semifinals
Tardi finished 3-2 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Tardi defeated Sean Geall (Kelowna, BC) 5-1, then went on to lose 7-3 against Cotter. Tardi responded with a 7-6 win over Adam Cseke (Kelowna, BC). Tardi went on to lose 4-3 against Stephen Schneider (Vancouver/Vernon, BC). Tardi responded with a 7-1 win over Cseke in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Prestige Hotels & Resorts Curling Classic Championship title, Tardi earned 0.000 world rankings points along with the $5,000CDN first prize cheque. For week 7 of the event schedule, Tardi did not improve upon their best events, dropping from 113th to 117th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 27.323 total points. Tardi ranks 87th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 6.384 points earned so far this season.
