Thune lost 8-3 to Alexander Eremin (Moscow, RUS) where Thune responded with a 6-4 win over Ugurcan Karagoz (Erzurum, TUR). Thune went on to lose 9-1 against Matt Dunstone (Winnipeg, CAN). Thune lost 9-3 to Bendik Ramsfjell (Oslo, NOR) where Thune responded with a 11-3 win over Korea's Ki Jeong Lee. Thune went on to lose 8-2 against Bruce Mouat (Edinburgh, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
