Virtue/Thomas finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Virtue/Thomas defeated Monica Walker/Jason Smith (Minnesota, USA) 9-7, then won 7-5 against Becca Hamilton/Matt Hamilton (Madison, WI) and 12-4 against Jillian Walker/Sean Beighton (Seattle, WA). Virtue/Thomas went on to lose 10-7 against Alexandra Carlson/Derrick McLean (St. Paul, MN). Virtue/Thomas responded with a 11-0 win over Joyance Meechai/Mike Calcagno (New York, NY) in their final qualifying round match.
