Mallais finished 4-1 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mallais defeated John Luckhurst (Halifax, NS) 8-4, then won 6-5 against Tommy Sullivan (Halifax, NS). Mallais went on to lose 10-4 against James Grattan (Saint John, NB). Mallais responded with a 7-2 win over Andrew Smith (Saint John, NB). Mallais won 7-1 against Dave Sullivan (Saint John, NB) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Jim Sullivan Curling Classic, Mallais take home 2.275 world rankings points along with the $2,500CDN prize, moving up 36 spots the World Ranking Standings into 158th place overall with 6.100 total points.
