Gushue lost 8-4 to Morozumi where Gushue responded with a 9-7 win over Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK). Gushue won 7-6 against Bruce Korte (Saskatoon, SK), then won 6-2 against Matthew Blandford (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Gushue earned 20.000 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Point Optical Curling Classic, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 3rd place overall with 217.133 total points.
