Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) run at the 2014 Point Optical Curling Classic came to an end in the semifinals with a 6-0 loss to Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB). of the 2014 Point Optical Curling Classic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; Gushue advanced through the quarterfinals with a 5-3 win over Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN). of the 2014 Point Optical Curling Classic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada;
 
Gushue finished 4-2 in the 26-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Christopher Plys (Blaine, USA) 8-4, then went on to lose 6-4 against Peter De Cruz (Geneva, SUI). Gushue lost 8-4 to Morozumi where Gushue responded with a 9-7 win over Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK). Gushue won 7-6 against Bruce Korte (Saskatoon, SK), then won 6-2 against Matthew Blandford (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Gushue earned 20.000 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Point Optical Curling Classic, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 3rd place overall with 217.133 total points. Gushue ranks 6th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 35.000 points earned so far this season.
