Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) won 6-5 over Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in the Final of the Canadian Open, held December 9 - 14, 2014 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. To advance to the championship game, Gushue won 5-4 over Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2014 Canadian Open in Yorkton, Saskatchewan; and won 7-5 over Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT) in the quarterfinals. of the 2014 Canadian Open in Yorkton, Saskatchewan;
 
Gushue finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Jim Cotter (Kelowna/Vernon, BC) 7-6, then won 6-3 against Glenn Howard (Penetanguishene, ON). Gushue went on to lose 7-3 against Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB). Gushue lost 7-3 to Jacobs where Gushue responded with a 6-4 win over John Morris (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Canadian Open Championship title, Gushue earned 40.000 world rankings points along with the $25,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 3rd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 342.133 total points. Gushue ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 160.000 points earned so far this season.
