Grant Dezura (Kelowna, BC) finished 2-3 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Dezura defeated Dustin Eckstrand (Red Deer, AB) 6-3, then went on to lose 6-4 against Scott Manners (North Battleford, SK). Dezura lost 8-3 to Jason Jacobson (Saskatoon, SK) where Dezura responded with a 9-3 win over Dean Ross (Edmonton, AB). Dezura went on to lose 6-5 against Jeff Richard (Kelowna, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
