To advance to the championship game, Richard won 8-7 over Trevor Perepolkin (Vernon, BC) in the semifinals of the 2013 Red Deer Curling Classic in Red Deer, Alberta; and won 7-6 over Brad Heidt (Kerrobert, SK) in the quarterfinals. of the 2013 Red Deer Curling Classic in Red Deer, Alberta;
 
Richard finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Richard defeated Dean Ross (Edmonton, AB) 6-2, then went on to lose 8-7 against John Stroh (Medicine Hat, AB). Richard responded with a 4-3 win over Rob Maksymetz (Grande Prairie, AB). Richard won 9-2 against Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB). Richard went on to lose 6-3 against Joel Jordison (Regina, SK). Richard responded with a 6-5 win over Grant Dezura (Kelowna, BC). Richard won 6-5 against Bottcher in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Red Deer Curling Classic, Richard take home 11.060 world rankings points along with the $7,000CDN prize, moving up 14 spots the World Ranking Standings into 45th place overall with 34.020 total points. Richard ranks 31st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 20.060 points earned so far this season.
