Brock Virtue (Regina, SK) won 4-3 over Jeff Richard (Kelowna, BC) in the Final of the Red Deer Curling Classic, held November 1 - 4, 2013 in Red Deer, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Virtue won 9-4 over Robert Schlender (Airdrie, AB) in the semifinals of the 2013 Red Deer Curling Classic in Red Deer, Alberta; and won 6-4 over Oskar Eriksson (Lit, SWE) in the quarterfinals.
Virtue finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Virtue defeated Chang-Min Kim (Uiseong, KOR) 5-4, then went on to lose 7-4 against Schlender. Virtue responded with a 7-3 win over Sean O'Connor (Calgary, AB). Virtue went on to lose 5-4 against Trevor Perepolkin (Vernon, BC). Virtue responded with a 4-2 win over Rob Maksymetz (Grande Prairie, AB). Virtue won 8-7 against Scott Bitz (Regina, SK), then won 6-3 against John Stroh (Medicine Hat, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Red Deer Curling Classic Championship title, Virtue earned 15.800 world rankings points along with the $10,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 3 spots the World Ranking Standings into 26th place overall with 70.130 total points. Virtue ranks 12th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 47.875 points earned so far this season.
