Hartung finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hartung defeated David Kraichy (Winnipeg, MB) 5-2, then won 7-3 against Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB). Hartung went on to lose 4-3 against Sigurdson. Hartung responded with a 6-2 win over Jared Kolomaya (Stonewall, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the DEKALB Superspiel, Hartung take home 3.325 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN prize, moving up 8 spots the World Ranking Standings into 81st place overall with 18.350 total points.
