Jeff Hartung (Langenburg, SK) lost 7-1 to Steen Sigurdson (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the DEKALB Superspiel, held November 21 - 24, 2013 at the Morris Curling Club in Morris, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Hartung won 6-4 over James Kirkness (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2013 DEKALB Superspiel in Morris, Manitoba, Canada; and won 8-2 over Kyle Foster (Arborg , MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2013 DEKALB Superspiel in Morris, Manitoba, Canada;
Hartung finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hartung defeated David Kraichy (Winnipeg, MB) 5-2, then won 7-3 against Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB). Hartung went on to lose 4-3 against Sigurdson. Hartung responded with a 6-2 win over Jared Kolomaya (Stonewall, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the DEKALB Superspiel, Hartung take home 3.325 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN prize, moving up 8 spots the World Ranking Standings into 81st place overall with 18.350 total points. Hartung ranks 76th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 8.225 points earned so far this season.
