Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB) lost 6-2 to Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the Point Optical Curling Classic, held September 27 - 30, 2013 at the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Martin won 4-1 over Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, ON) in the semifinals of the 2013 Point Optical Curling Classic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; and won 6-2 over Rob Fowler (Brandon, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2013 Point Optical Curling Classic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada;
Martin finished 5-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Martin defeated Dean Ross (Edmonton, AB) 6-4, then won 6-2 against Fowler and 5-4 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). Martin went on to lose 10-3 against Stoughton. Martin responded with a 9-6 win over Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). Martin won 6-3 against John Morris (Vernon, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Point Optical Curling Classic, Martin take home 25.000 world rankings points along with the $8,000CDN prize, remaining in 8th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 177.963 total points. Martin ranks 4th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 54.350 points earned so far this season.
