Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) qualified for the 2012 Canadian Open of Curling playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-4 against Mark Kean (Toronto, ON). of the 2012 Canadian Open of Curling in Kelowna, British Columbia;
 
Gushue finished 3-2 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated John Epping (Toronto, ON) 7-4, then won 5-4 against Jim Cotter (Kelowna/Vernon, BC) and 7-3 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK). Gushue went on to lose 7-4 against Jake Higgs (Harriston, ON). Gushue lost 5-4 to Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Gushue earned 18.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Canadian Open of Curling, dropping 1 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 10th place overall with 180.781 total points.
