To advance to the championship game, Jacobs won 8-5 over Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2012 Canadian Open of Curling in Kelowna, British Columbia; and won 6-5 over Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2012 Canadian Open of Curling in Kelowna, British Columbia;
Jacobs finished 4-1 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Jacobs lost 6-2 to Howard, then responded with a 6-5 win over Rob Rumfeldt (Guelph, ON). Jacobs won 5-3 against Jeff Stoughton (winnipeg, MB), then won 7-5 against Jean-Michel Menard (Quebec, QC) and 8-5 against William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Canadian Open of Curling, Jacobs take home 27.000 world rankings points along with the $15,000CDN prize, remaining in 8th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 224.394 total points. Jacobs ranks 5th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 127.815 points earned so far this season.
