Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) won 3-1 over Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) in the Final of the Canadian Open of Curling, held December 12 - 16, 2012 in Kelowna, British Columbia. To advance to the championship game, Howard won 5-3 over Mark Kean (Toronto, ON) in the semifinals of the 2012 Canadian Open of Curling in Kelowna, British Columbia; and won 7-2 over Jim Cotter (Kelowna/Vernon, BC) in the quarterfinals.
Howard finished 5-0 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Howard defeated Jacobs 6-2, then won 7-3 against Jeff Stoughton (winnipeg, MB) and 8-2 against William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB). Howard won 8-2 against Jean-Michel Menard (Quebec, QC), then won 5-4 against Rob Rumfeldt (Guelph, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Canadian Open of Curling Championship title, Howard earned 40.000 world rankings points along with the $25,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 1st place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 421.090 total points. Howard ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 152.570 points earned so far this season.
