Assad went on to lose 4-2 against Trevor Bonot (Thunder Bay, ON). Assad responded with a 5-3 win over Joe Scharf (Thunder Bay, ON). Assad went on to lose 5-3 against Art Lappalainen (Thunder Bay, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.
Assad earned 1.125 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Courtesy Freight Northern Ontario Superspiel, moving up 20 spots the World Ranking Standings into 176th place overall with 4.601 total points.
