John Epping (Toronto, ON) won 7-6 over Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) in the Final of the Sun Life Financial Players' Championship, held April 17 - 22, 2012 in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. To advance to the championship game, Epping won 6-4 over Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals
 
Epping finished 5-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Epping defeated Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) 8-4, then went on to lose 5-2 against Martin. Epping responded with a 6-3 win over Howard. Epping won 7-6 against Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB), then won 7-1 against Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB) and 7-3 against Sebastian Kraupp (Karlstad, SWE). Epping went on to lose 5-2 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Sun Life Financial Players' Championship Championship title, Epping earned 45.000 world rankings points along with the $28,000CDN first prize cheque. Epping move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 42 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 8th overall with 231.133 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Epping ranks 6th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 155.650 points earned so far this season.
