Howard finished 5-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Howard defeated Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) 10-7, then won 8-5 against McEwen. Howard went on to lose 6-3 against Epping. Howard responded with a 6-4 win over Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB). Howard went on to lose 5-3 against Sebastian Kraupp (Karlstad, SWE). Howard responded with a 6-5 win over Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB). Howard won 8-2 against Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Sun Life Financial Players' Championship, Howard take home 30.000 world rankings points along with the $22,000CDN prize, remaining in 3rd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 14 after improving upon their best so far this season. Howard ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 268.345 points earned so far this season.
