Fowler finished 4-1 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Fowler lost 6-5 to Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB), then responded with a 6-4 win over Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC). Fowler won 6-4 against Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON), then won 10-4 against Dale Matchett (Bradford, ON) and 5-3 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Fowler earned 18.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the BDO Canadian Open, remaining in 9th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 16.545 after improving upon their best so far this season. Fowler ranks 14th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 67.455 points earned so far this season.
