McEwen went on to lose 6-3 against Bob Ursel (Kelowna, BC). McEwen responded with a 4-3 win over Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

McEwen earned 7.050 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Twin Anchors Invitational.
