Bob Ursel (Kelowna, BC) lost 7-5 to Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the Twin Anchors Invitational, held October 2 - 5, 2009 at the Vernon Curling Club in Vernon, Canada. Advancing directly to the semifinals, Ursel won 6-4 over Kerry Burtnyk (Winnipeg, MB) to advance to the championship game. of the 2009 Twin Anchors Invitational in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada;
 
Ursel finished 3-0 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ursel defeated Alberta's Ron Chrenek 5-2, then won 8-3 against Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) and 6-3 against Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Twin Anchors Invitational, Ursel take home 11.750 world rankings points along with the $5,500CDN prize. For week of the event schedule, Ursel did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Ursel ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
