Murdoch advanced through the quarterfinals with a 6-0 win over Claudio Pescia (St. Galler, SUI). of the 2009 Lucerne Curling Trophy in Lucerne, Switzerland;

Murdoch finished 5-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Murdoch defeated Jiri Snitil (Brno, CZE) 4-3, then won 7-5 against Andrey Drozdov (Moscow, RUS) and 5-4 against Toni Mueller (Baden Regio, SUI). Murdoch won 8-3 against Patrick Vuille (Glarus, SUI), then won 7-3 against Austria's Harald Fendt in their final qualifying round match.

Murdoch earned 10.600 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Lucerne Curling Trophy. For week of the event schedule, Murdoch did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Murdoch ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
