Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) won 8-6 over Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic, held September 17 - 20, 2009 in Brockville, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Gushue won 5-4 over Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) in the semifinals of the 2009 AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic in Brockville, Ontario; and won 5-3 over Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2009 AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic in Brockville, Ontario;
Gushue finished 4-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue lost 7-4 to Steve Lodge (Brockville, ON), droppimg another game, 9-4 to Dale Matchett (Bradford, ON) where Gushue responded with a 9-0 win over Denis Cordick (Georgetown, ON). Gushue won 7-2 against Chris Gardner (Arnprior, ON), then won 7-3 against Pete Fenson (Bemidji, MN) and 6-5 against Pierre Charette (Etchemin, QC) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic Championship title, Gushue earned 40.000 world rankings points along with the $9,500CDN first prize cheque. For week of the event schedule, Gushue did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Gushue ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
