To advance to the championship game, Martin won 9-8 over Dale Matchett (Bradford, ON) in the semifinals of the 2009 AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic in Brockville, Ontario; and won 5-4 over Jason Gunnlaugson (Beausejour, MB) in the quarterfinals.

Martin finished 5-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Martin defeated John Shuster (Duluth, MN) 8-1, then won 7-1 against Heath McCormick (Sarnia, ON) and 7-1 against Guy Hemmings (Sorel, QC). Martin won 7-0 against Ken Thompson (Cataraqui, ON), then won 8-7 against Greg Balsdon (Kingston, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

Martin earned 25.000 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic. For week of the event schedule, Martin did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
