Martin finished 5-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Martin defeated John Shuster (Duluth, MN) 8-1, then won 7-1 against Heath McCormick (Sarnia, ON) and 7-1 against Guy Hemmings (Sorel, QC). Martin won 7-0 against Ken Thompson (Cataraqui, ON), then won 8-7 against Greg Balsdon (Kingston, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

Martin earned 25.000 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic.
