Greg Monkman (New Westminster, BC) finished 3-3 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Monkman defeated Tony Germsheid (Edmonton, AB) 7-6, then won 7-0 against Sterling Hansen (Calgary, AB). Monkman went on to lose 7-6 against Alberta's Lowell Peterman. Monkman responded with a 6-4 win over Alberta's Bryan Blaylock. Monkman went on to lose 6-5 against Brian Windsor (Kamloops, BC). Monkman lost 10-4 to 's Lloyd Hill in their final qualifying round match.
