A new Grand Slam season opens with Ottawa's Rachel Homan (photo: Michael Burns, Curling Canada) winning their 13th straight game. After losing their final game last season to Silvana Tirinzoni in the final of the Players' Championship in Toronto, a new streak started for Homan and her team of Tracy Fleury, Emma Miskew and Sarah Wilkes as to how long they can go before dropping their first game of the season. Homan is playing very well to start the season, winning 9-3 over Delaney Strouse of Traverse City, Michigan, in draw three of the HearingLife Tour Challenge in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Strouse did make an early dent, her team of Sarah Anderson, Sydney Mullaney and Anne O'Hara stealing two in the second end for an early lead. Unfortunately for the American, Homan got to work after that, scoring four in the third end and then stealing three more in the fourth end to lead 7-2. Homan added two more points in the sixth end to seal the 9-3 win. The win marks the thirteenth of the season after Homan went 8-0 in winning the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic in Cornwall, then finishing off four more wins in the 16 team single knockout bracket at the PointsBet Invitational in Calgary last weekend. Homan lines up next against Italy's Stefania Constantini in round two of the A-event bracket, where two more wins would them through into the playoff round. Homan is 2-1 against Constantini lifetime in fours, winning the last two meetings, an 8-7 win last season at the Women's Worlds and then again, 7-1 at the season-ending Players' Championship last April. Scheduled for Noon Atlantic Time, the game will be available through HomeTeamLive's streaming coverage of all sheets at the Tier 1 event at the HearingLife Tour Challenge, a first for the Grand Slams.
