![]() Robyn Silvernagle (photo: Anil Mungal, GSOC) returns to the lineup for tonight's game against China. This week, it's Silvernagle arriving Friday evening in Beaumont just in time to join her team of Jessie Hunkin, Jessie Haughan and Kristie Moore to play the A-Qualifier against Wang Rui of China. The trio won 8-2 over Hannah Phillips on Thursday in the opening draw, then won 5-4 over Edmonton's Selena Sturmay to advance to the first playoff qualifying games. 15 teams are in Beaumont for the Hack2House Alberta Curling Series Major, playing a triple knockout. Two teams qualify through the A-event, two more teams through the B-event for one-game losers, and two more playoff spots are available for the two-game losers. As with many teams, juggling real life comes with competing on the curling tour and for Silvernagle with two young children at home, there will always be a balance. Competing as three has become the normal on tour for teams shorthanded. The advantages of throwing three stones outweigh the lack of a second sweeper. Another change for Silvernagle will be chasing the Alberta provincial title after having long played out of Saskatchewan for her entire career. "It will be fun to play more in another province of great players, " said Silvernagle Friday on her way to Beaumont. Hunkin and Silvernagle paired for several years, having broken through together and winning their first provincial Scotties title. "It's also pretty cool to compete to wear Jessie Hunkin's provincial colours since she got to wear my home province colours in 2019/20." "We have followers all over the country, and it would be a neat experience to have so many fans from Alberta and Saskatchewan." |
